event of such damage being found, the
appliance must no longer be used.
Do not operate the appliance if excessive
force has been used to pull the power cord.
Damage cannot always be detected from
the outside; the entire unit should therefore
be checked by a qualifi ed technician before
it is used again.
To prevent damage to the power cord,

do not bend or kink the cable, especially
where it leaves the housing,

do not pull on the cord,
-
do not coil the cord around the appliance.
Do not allow the power cord to touch hot
surfaces.
Always remove the plug from the wall
socket
-
after use,
-
in case of any malfunction, and
-
before cleaning the appliance.
When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord;
always grip the plug itself.
Do not place the appliance on any surfaces
sensitive to heat during or immediately after
use.
No responsibility will be accepted if damage
results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
This appliance is intended for domestic or
similar applications, such as

in shops, offi ces and other similar
working environments,

in agricultural areas,

by customers in hotels, motels etc. and
similar establishments,

in bed-and breakfast type environments.
In order to comply with safety regulations
and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical
appliances must be carried out by qualifi ed
personnel, including the replacement of the
power cord. If repairs are needed, please
send the appliance to one of our customer
service departments. The address can be
found in the appendix to this manual.
Before using for the fi rst time
Clean the appliance and the heating plates
before use as described in the section ‘
General
care and cleaning
’.
Travel lock
The locking mechanism allows for secure,
space-saving storage e.g. when travelling.
To lock the heating plates, push them gently
together and slide the travel lock to the front.
Temperature selection
To avoid damage to the hair, always start with
a low temperature setting, e.g. 150°C for
thin or sensitive hair, 170°C for normal hair
and 190°C for thicker hair. If the hair can be
straightened at that setting in two cycles, no
further increase in temperature is necessary,
as the optimum setting has already been
reached.
Operation
The appliance should only be used on clean
and dry or almost dry hair.
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
Use the travel lock to secure the appliance.
This will help to shorten the pre-heating
time.
Use the On/Off switch to turn the appliance
on.
Use the plus/minus temperature control
keys to set the desired level, observing the
above instructions. Pre-heating starts as
shown by the red indicator light.
The appliance is now pre-heating; the
selected temperature fl ashes in the display,
while the temperature indicator bars move
continuously from low to high.
During the heating phase, the appliance
should be placed on a fi rm, heat-resistant
surface.
Once the desired temperature has been
reached, it remains steady on the display.
If the temperature is changed to a lower
setting, it will start fl ashing again until
the lower has been reached. In this case,
the temperature indicator bars move
