Appendix C: MIDI

C•1

 c: midi

This Appendix covers the MIDI features available for your POD® HD Pro device. POD

HD Pro will respond to incoming MIDI messages for remote access of its assignable

Footswitch & Pedal Controllers, and for loading Banks & Presets. POD HD Pro also

outputs Bank & Program Change messages when navigating Set Lists and Presets. POD

HD Pro additionally includes the ability to function as MIDI Controller device, capable

of sending customized MIDI commands to other MIDI devices. This functionality is, of

course, most useful if you also have a Line 6 FBV™ Series Controller connected, since this

effectively turns your FBV device into a full-featured MIDI Foot Controller!

MIDI Input & Out/Thru

The

MIDI INPUT

 and

MIDI OUT/THRU

DIN ports are the connections to use for all

MIDI communication. (POD HD Pro does not include USB over MIDI functionality.)

To send  MIDI communication to another device, connect a standard 5-Pin MIDI cable

from the

MIDI OUT/THRU

to the MIDI Input of your external device. To receive MIDI

communication,  connect a MIDI cable from the POD HD Pro

MIDI IN

 to the device

MIDI Out.

POD HD Pro MIDI Setup options

To set the MIDI Channel for sending & receiving MIDI messages, use the POD HD Pro

SETUP:MIDI/Tempo

 -

MIDI Channel

option. It is also possible to receive MIDI data on

this MIDI Channel and to pass it “thru” the POD HD Pro

MIDI OUT/THRU

 to other

MIDI devices. To do so, be sure to set the

MIDI Out/Thru

option on this same Setup page

to “Thru.” See

“Page 6,  MIDI/Tempo Options” on page 2•10
